  4. Chateau D'yquem 2004 375ml

The 2004 d’Yquem is initially a little disjointed on the nose. It does meld together with aeration, but it never attains the complexity or nuance of a top-flight Yquem. Hints of white chocolate and clear honey emerge with time however; it needs to demonstrate more hubris and ambition. The palate is nicely balanced with a fine line of acidity with a noticeable citric edge. Perhaps this Yquem is amidst a broody spell, for here the likes of de Fargues and Suduiraut appear to offer more spark and more pizzazz. It would not surprise me if this has more to offer in several years’ time. Drink 2018-2030+. Tasted February 2014.92/100 - Neal Martin

  8. Brachetto D'soumah 2015 500ml (still Dessert Style)

90 Points, Mike Bennie, Wine Front, "Rather than drink full-on dessert wines, I often look to recommend light, sweet things in the vein of moscato d’Asti or similar to recommend. Personally, I usually finish off meals with something like marc or grappa or a digestif or an amaro, but not everyone likes that. I reckon these lighter, fresher ‘dessert wine’ styles are just more friendly in Australian dining modes. Packed in 500ml bottles.Blissful drinking. The bottle says ‘full strength’ but it doesn’t feel that way. Sweet, sugary, but light on its feet with brisk acidity and a cool, faint trim of chalkiness in texture. It smells like a compote of red berries, maybe some minty candy, and tastes not too far off too. That being said, it sits fresh and perky in the palate, almost invigorating in its pretty, sweet way. Bring on the pavlova."

  9. Chateau D'yquem Sauternes 2006 375ml

19/20 Jancis Robinson - "Sweet crème pâtissière on the nose. Solid and very rich and impressive. Real depth and unctuousness and complexity. This is great stuff. Long and layered. So long! Complex."

  10. Pegasus Bay Finale Noble 2011 375ml

La Nina weather conditions produced perfect growing conditions for both the semillon and sauvignon blanc and by leaving them on the vine until late in the season they developed perfect noble botrytis. Natural fermentation by indigenous yeasts in artisan French oak barriques was followed by two years ageing in these. A warm amber hue reflects the ripeness of the grapes and the botrytis. The generous bouquet and flavour suggest lychee, apricot, comb honey, candied orange peel, nougat, and toasted almonds. It is decadently mouth filling and rich but has a sinuous spine of acidity and minerality that draws out the length and provides a perfect balance to the wine's natural lusciousness. Wine is a natural health food.
