  1. Graillot Project Syrah Number 2 2016

Luke Lambert has been appointed as the wine maker here now and the fruit comes from organically farmed vineyards in Heathcote, Victoria. This wine exudes charm. There is elegance and drive here. Aromas of lavender, rose petal, plums, mineral earth and pepper flow onto the palate. It's warm and restrained with spices, dried herbs and dark red fruits. There is a graphite-like palate feel but the mid-palate fleshiness follows to the finish with fresh, light, high-noted tannins. Yum!

  4. Castagna Pet-nat Allegro

"Produced from shiraz from the family vineyard, though some viognier sneaks in. “It’s really our rose”, explains Julian Castagna. A couple of lean years without enough rose inspired Castagna to look to the pet nat style. A surge of producers are coming at the old school sparkling winemaking style. It’s a disgorged pet nat, after a year on lees – disgorging and calling a wine a pet nat sits uneasily with me, but hey, no rules and all that… Attractive perfume, strawberry kissed with lemon and faint vanilla notes. The palate is creamy yet brisk in acidity, intensity of red berry flavours is inherent but there’s a kick of saline tang in tow. It feels quite complex, a touch savoury, concentrated in flavour and bustling with fine bubbles. Very fine sparkling." 93 Points. Mike Bennie, The Wine Front - Tasted Jan 2019

  7. Massena The Eleventh Hour Shiraz 2016

"100% destemmed, open-fermented, basket- pressed, matured in used oak. The inky crimson-purple colour holds court all the way to the rim, and tells of the sheer (black) fruit power of the palate, liquorice and pepper adding complexity. The mouthfeel is super-velvety, which adds to the density of the fruit. It will be 10 years before it opens the doors for inspection."94 points, Halliday Cellaring Selections April 2018.

  8. Kilikanoon Killermans Run Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Appearance: Brick red in colour with youthful crimson hues.Nose: Cassis, tobacco leaf and red berries predominate the aromas, well supported by cedary and spicey oak notes.Palate: Richly flavoured and textured, the dark fruits, hints of fresh leaf, tobacco and subtle French oak toast in perfect synchronicity with the fine grained tannins and balanced natural acidity. A long and persistent finish, that will be further enhanced by carefull cellaring.

  9. Schwarz Wine Company Meta Shiraz 2016

"Barossa shiraz from a range of vineyards around the region. It’s a substantial red wine with fruit – rather than oak – to the fore. It’s a pure expression of shiraz in a Barossa landscape. It tastes of coal and blackberry jam, campfire and cloves, but it’s that hearty hit of blackberried – tinged with raspberry – fruit that really characterises it. It’s a faultless shiraz, from all angles." 93 Points, Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.

  10. Schwarz Wine Co. Meta Grenache 2017

"Hand picked, wild yeast, 91% whole bunches, unfined, unfiltered. 2650 bottles made. From Bethany and Marananga. That’s a whole lot of whole bunch. It shows in the wine. It hits you with smoky, nutty, spicy flavour, challengingly so, though it then backs it with Turkish delight and pure plum flavours. It yells at you but then lets you off easy. It does though remain grabby and light. It looks a little murky in the glass, which I don’t mind at all. This is grenache as food. Pulpy, savoury, smoked. You wouldn’t think it’s to everyone’s taste but who cares. It works."  92 Points, Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
