  1. Sons Of Eden Marschall Shiraz 2017

"I’ve not quite got my head around Barossa Valley reds from 2017. I will; early days yet. Carries a lot of spice and a certain ‘edginess’ to its acidity and has a slightly tense personality. It’s not like those that came before, with more herbal almost grassy notes, over boysenberry, blueberry and just-ripe blackberries. Certainly fresh and crunchy, light sandy tannin with a bit of astringency, and a solid finish, black olive and dark chocolate in its wake. Different, but good." 91 Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.

  2. Bk Wines Mother Moon Syrah 2017

Mother Moon is fruity, pungent Guatemalan coffee with a strong acid line. Dense with flavours of smoky charcuterie, black olives, mulberry and even native Australian cherry. Would work fabulously well with a lean, gamey meat – kangaroo for our Aussie audience or duck if you’re further afield.

  3. Dormilona Pykeys Merlot 2018

Pykeys Merlot is named after my late uncle Frank Pyke - total champion of a man.  Stunning little batch of organic Merlot from a lovely little plot in Yallingup, Stonegate Vineyard. Whole bunches thrown into a 400L french oak vessle called a Perle. 100% carbonic fermented for a month then basket pressed back to oak. Bottled directly to keep freshness & express plus celebrate the new vintage. No adds, no fining, no filteration. A very fun loving wine just like old Frank, Winery note.

  4. Mount Langhi Ghiran Shiraz 2005

"Powerful purple colour; the same seamless flow of fruit, oak and tannins as in the preceding vintages; the flavours range through red cherry, blackberry, spice, pepper, tamed by lively acidity and fine tannins." 96 Points, James Halliday, Wine Companion.

  5. Moss Wood Amys 375ml

"A blend of cabernet merlot malbec and petit verdot. It’s still so young but showing excellent fruit concentration. Lush and sweet with juicy fruitiness as you might expect from such a recent vintage. A wine that you can tuck into over the next few years." 92 PointsRay Jordan - The West Australian

  6. Hochkirch Syrah 2015

This deeply coloured wines is exotically perfumed with blackberry, cassis, smoked meat and a subtle peppery undertone. It’s quintessential syrah that contains floral aromas is supported by silky tannins. The smoky note that does not relate to oak repeats strongly on the broad, very long finish. Reminds me a lot of the northern Rhone. For those of you that like the Syrah from Giaconda, Clonakilla and Castagna you can confidently add this one to your shopping list.

  8. Izway Rob & Les Shiraz 2017

Winery Notes: "The 2017 harvest will be broadly remembered as wet and cold, with morethan double the average rainfall recorded in the 2016 calendar year. However, the rain seemed to obey the calendar and dry harvest conditionsmeant that potential disease pressures were easily managed, andpatience was rewarded with wonderful, fragrant aromatics and juicy, clean, bright flavours. The cool conditions contributed not only to pure fruit on thevine but long, slow and controlled fermentation in the winery. A stellarvintage that will be wedged between two of the best we have seen and onethat should cement the Barossa as the most consistent region in Australia. VineyardsThe 2017 Rob & Les is sourced from two vineyards; the Kalleske HillsideVineyard and the Kalleske Bruce Vineyard, both located in the north ofthe Barossa Valley. Although they are geographically close the twovineyards produce distinctive wines; the Hillside Vineyard produces winewith wonderful balance, elegance and structure, while the Bruce Vineyardproduces wine that is dense and powerful. We think these two vineyardscomplement each other beautifully and combine to produce a wine thathas great power and elegance. We believe this wine is terrific value andwill age beautifully over the next 5 – 10 years. 10. Clonakilla O'riada Shiraz 2017

"I hope and pray that Clonakilla O’Riada Shiraz remains at this price level. It’s not about me but: I love this wine. It’s built on acidity and spice as much as it is on fruit and tannin. It’s direct, it’s exotic, it’s meaty and floral, but it’s also laced with black cherry and fennel. It has velocity and tension. It is simply a beautiful, modern red wine in the best says of the word(s)."94 Points, Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
