  1. Schwarz Thiele Road Grenache 2012

Jason's tasting notes:Nose : Starts out with subtle sour cherry notes, opens up to wild plum, prune and a hint of bright raspberry. Underneath there are layers of lightly-smoked and slightly-minty meats. Palate : This is a medium-weight wine, and while it is not fruit-forward, there are bright and lifted red raspberry and cherry flavours within a nice line of subtle earthy and tarry notes. The impact of the 15% whole-bunch ferment is evident through the subtle, grippy tannin and hints of green peppercorn and star anise spiciness.

  2. Tonic Wines Grenache

Clare Valley Grenache, which although not so widely planted, is a grape that does pretty well in those parts. Glennn Barry a very talented winemaker who wastes a large percentage of his life doing wine shows. 415 dozen made, and likely not entered into any wine shows. Raspberry, blood orange and peel, musk, five spice, maybe even beer nuts. It’s light and juicy, distinct amaro twang through dried cranberry and red cherry, plenty of spice, freshness and energy, and a lot of chutzpah. Cinches in on the long dry finish with orange, cinnamon and a twist of peel. It’s 94 points, though tempted to give it a bonus point for its unswerving Italianate charm.94 Points, Gary Walsh,

  3. Tonic Wines Rose 2018

"Clare Valley rose from Tonic Wines. Said it before and will say it again: have to love the packaging of these wines. Love the flavour profile here. Jellied orange, bitter herbs, dry spice, fennel and raspberry. Touches of Campari, touches of pomegranate; what I’m really saying is that it’s different from the norm and yet it’s juicy and accessible. Like it a lot." 93 Points, Campbell Mattinson.

  8. Chaffey Bros Pax Aeterna Grenache 2018

"Light and fresh, strawberry, floral, spicy, slightly smoky and reductive. Fine and red fruited, soft but balanced acidity, tastes (and feels) like whole bunch spice here, with subtle stickiness, light emery tannin, and a savory finish, which is tasty, though not especially long. Stylish."92 Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.

"From the Stonegarden vineyard, 1858 plantings. Raised in 600 litre barrels. Contains a dash of Mataro (8%). Rosy perfume, raspberry, spice, fresh mint, milk chocolate and hazelnuts. Medium-bodied, silky glycerol feel, ripe fine tannin buried under it, succulence of red fruit with some dried herb, beautiful texture, and a very long, pretty finish.
