  3. Primo Estate Joseph Moda Cabernet Merlot 2014

"Been a while between Modas! Sees a similar format to its past incarnations with 80% cabernet sauvignon, 20% merlot, grapes dried before crushing ala amarone style. It sees French and American oak barrels. It’s as flamboyant as always. Done so well in its style. Richness in perfume of nougat, coconut, Christmas cake spices and dried fruits, ripe plums, black olives. Slippery, rich, flavoursome, lip-smacking stuff to taste. Bold, concentrated hit of dark fruits enveloped in wood spice, nougat oak and creamy tannins. It glides long and yet finds structure in chalky edges, finishes firm and distant. Stains the palate, gives you something to chew on. Big, bold style nailed." 94+ PointsTasted July 2016Mike Bennie - The Wine Front

  4. Rockford Rod & Spur Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Our blending of Shiraz and Cabernet is a return to the great Australian reds of the 1950’s and 60’s when Shiraz/Cabernet blends dominated the premium market. The name of this wine is our acknowledgement to the growers who spend the cold Barossa winters hand pruning in the traditional rod & spur method. Raise a glass in their honour as you enjoy a glass or two of this wine.

  6. Fraser Gallop Cabernet Merlot 2016

"73% cabernet sauvignon, 19% merlot, 8% petit verdot blended after fermentation. Destemmed whole berries were fermented in tank with cultured yeast, 10-14 days on skins, matured in used French oak for 10 months. Clear, bright crimson-purple; I'm tempted to say ?there it is: Margaret River', but this super-elegant medium-bodied wine plays ping pong with itself, the red fruits serving, fine, persistent tannins returning serve. Good game, but headed for a draw."92 Points, James Halliday, Wine Companion.

  8. Wild Duck Creek The Dabbler 2015

"Winery Notes: The Dabbler is a single vineyard wine made from blending Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere grown at our Adairs Lane vineyard, 4 kilometres from the winery. Adairs Lane Vineyard is situated in the south-west of the region which is cooler than the north. Growing on clay loams over sandstone and mudstone, creating a wine of finesse and vibrancy whilst maintaining our signature textural complexity. A wine that can be consumed for well over a decade."Juicy, immediate, red-frutied  more-ish red here, seasoned with just a lick of new oak to give it that signature Wild Duck Creek vannilin flair. Delicious.78% Cab Sauv and 22% Carmenere from the heathcote - first one of these I've seen!-Liam

  9. Castagna La Chiave 2015

"Time in barrel has mellowed this wine considerably, taking its time in the glass to reveal sangiovese's short-twitch muscle of edgy tannin and sappy acidity. Plenty of nerve, too. Red fruit allusions shimmer around a kernel of exotic herb and spice, from cardamom, anise and clove. Sapid of flavour, beguiling of texture and long. This is a mellow sleeper needing air to awaken." 93 Points, Ned Goodwin, Halliday Wine Companion 01/08/2018."Sangiovese! An old clone found in a friend’s garden, brought to Australia in 1922, or so the legend goes. Now organic farmed at Castagna by two generations of family. Open ferment, into barrel that’s about 20% new oak, Bob’s ya uncle. Wonderful aromas suggesting red cherry, game meat, tobacco and potpourri. Medium bodied, succulent, lengthy and lightly juicy, given shape from ribs of light powdery tannin and set to more sour cherry and spice character in flavours. Has a seriousness to it, understatement and elegance. A refined, compelling wine of detail, tannin prowess and class. Excellent – one for the trophy cabinet.95 Points"Mike Bennie, The Wine Front - Tasted Jan 2019

  10. Nick Spencer Gundagai Dry Red 2017

94 Points Gary Walsh "It’s floral and nutty, with a dusting of pepper over blue and purple fruit, and for me, some ouzo/aniseed and a little Play-Doh kind of deal. Medium-bodied, enough fruit, but more to nutty/ferrous in flavour rather than simply fruity. Tannin has a fine chalk dust texture, along with clean and balanced acidity. Some cherry/boysenberry pie with spicy crust in the aftertaste, along with that gentle drag of tannin on good solid finish. A wine of polish and finesse, and an added dimension of interest in its blend of grape varieties. Nice one, Nick".
