  1. Apogee Deluxe Vintage Rose 2016

"From Dr Andrew Pirie and his single site in Lebrina, in the (east) Tamar Valley. Geez, the font is hard to read on the labels and I have 20/20 vision, or whatever the scale is. Micro font aside, this is a blend of pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot meunier, though mostly noir. And, indeed, it is pink. It sees some time in oak, or a portion does, and some aged material blended in for added bonus. Once you rip the foil off the cap you lose the detail of the wine, with no other vintage mark or cuvee name left behind. You do get the intel that this bottle was disgorged 30JAN19, however. Lithe and pretty sparkling wine of purity of fruit, good drive, tight bead and general freshness. There’s little in the way of yeastiness or savoury funk, cruising down the pure fruit, inward concentration and fruit-derived complexity line. And, complexity is a good word here, without knowing, because it is very easy to drink, there’s a lot more going on in layers of berry flavours, citrus, faint mineral things, saline character and apple-spectrum notes. It glides on silky texture but captures you with hidden chicanery of interest. I really liked this."93 Points, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front.

  3. Bk Wines Petillant Naturel Chardonnay 2019

Brendon writes, "When we’re lucky and the vintage permits – as it has in 2019 – we’re blessed with a silty golden layer of Chardonnay lees that bubbles to the surface like a lava lamp. Once you’ve finished marvelling at the visual spectacle you can lose yourself in aromas of brioche, lemon curd and heady citrus blossom. Intensely fresh. If lemon blossom can also be a flavour, this is where you’ll find it, accompanying toffee apples and toasted cashews. All sparkly on the palate with a bead so tight you could mistake it for strings of tiny pearls. Textured and weighty but lilting and floral. You’ll be forgiven if you don’t wait until the summer sun to crack this one."

  4. Bk Wine Petillant Naturel Pinot Noir 2019

Brendon writes, "Vibrant to the point of overtopping the bottle with blousy magenta bubbles. On the nose, toasted marshmallow frizzante at first glance but the pure essence of Pinot Noir on deeper inhalation. A bright, pretty palate of strawberries and cream custard – it’s basically dessert and champagne served together in the same glass. This wine is both an enticingly rosy, ebullient demonstration of the continuous flow of fermentation straight to bottle and a surprisingly accomplished Burgundy." 100% Lenswood Pinot Noir. Whole-bunch pressed to concrete ‘egg’ fermenter. Fermented until nearly dry.

  5. Henri Able Brut 2009

To celebrate its 260th anniversary with style, Maison Henri Abelé is proud to release a limited edition of its glorious 2009 vintage, dressed up in a rococo livery. The Maison took inspiration from the famous rococo style, an artistic movement that flourished in France in the 18th century, almost simultaneously to its very own foundation. Henri Abelé praises this French art de vivre by picking up the patterns of the rich and luxurious rococo iconic style in its bottle design, combined to subtle inserts of the Maison’s symbols and emblems. 2009 : With blessed conditions for both the maturity process and the harvest, a perfectly healthy crop was brought in. This great vintage is marked by a beautiful balance between richness and acidity.

  7. Pol Roger Vintage Brut Champagne 2009

"The 2009 Brut Vintage blends 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay from 20 grand and premier cru villages in the Montagne de Reims and the Cte des Blancs. Fermented in stainless steel with each variety and each village kept separate and malolactic completed, the 2009 aged eight years in the cellars before being hand-riddled and disgorged. Disgorged in October 2017 and tasted in June 2018, the 2009 shows an intense, concentrated, pretty vinous and profound bouquet of ripe fruit, chalk, brioche and nutty/almond notes. Full-bodied and rich but fresh and even refined on the palate, this is a very elegant, round, charming yet well-structured and vinous Vintage Brut with a clear, fresh, structured and remarkably persistent finish. It drinks already very well today, but its aging potential is most probably stunning."Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate -- 29/06/2018

  8. Marco Bonfante Moscato D'asti 2017

Winery notes. In the glass the Moscato shows an intense straw yellow. The perlage is fine and elegant. On the nose it is fruity, intense and very persistent. The sweet and aromatic taste and the  balance between the low alcohol content and acidity, never too high, give this wine a pleasant freshness.

  9. Apogee Alto Pinot Gris 2018

Winery notes.BOUQUETVery attractive aromatics with complex pear, fragrant florals with “salty” rose, musk andchalky mineralsPA L AT EMid-bodied with taut acidity and a mild nip oftannins from limited skin contact. The palateis dry but there is a refined roundness andlack of bitterness which comes from ourstyle of winemaking. At this early stage therefreshing natural acidity makes it a perfectseafood wine.

  10. Hentley Farm Blanc De Noir Sparkling 2018

"An unusual place to find pink sparkling wine from, well, with a Barossa home base, but hey, the Australian wine industry is full of surprises. Pale pink colour. Strawberry kissed scents and flavours, creamy notes, nougat sweet-savouriness, gentle fizz. It’s nicely put together, has some easy charm, a little chalkiness for interest too. Easy drinking, but with some complexity in tow. I like it. You should too."90 Points, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front.
