  3. Jacquesson Cuvee 740 Extra Brut Nv (organic)

94 Points, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front, "From the 2012 harvest and five locations in Champagne. The farming is now biological/organic, the winemaking decidedly low intervention. Indeed, the wines sit on lees in barrel for their life outside bottle, unfined and unfiltered. Sulphur addition would be on the very lower side for Champagne at 20ppm added and less than 40ppm total. Effectively, as natural-leaning as Champagne gets these days. All the info is on the label too. This is a super-dooper release too. It’s a marriage of toasty-richness and bristling freshness here. Compact in the palate with undertones of brioche, marzipan, ginger biscuit, with a coursing vein of green apply, tangy fruit character and lively oyster-shell-like minerality. The bouquet is attractive, a mesh of patisserie, honey and apple/citrus character. It pulses through the mouth with refreshment factor and light, palate sticking fruit-yeast sweetness. It’s gulpable and yet fine. It’s stunning stuff.”

  4. Brimoncourt Blanc De Blancs Nv

Winery Notes: This very fine blend is supremely full and elegant. Generous, fresh and subtle, Brimoncourt Blanc de Blancs is perfect as a distinctive apéritif... A well balanced Champagne, fresh and generous made exclusively from Premiers and Grands Crus Chardonnay grapes. A large majority of vines based in the Côte des Blancs gives this wine an exceptional elegance. He has a very light yellow colour with golden glimmers. The typical nose opens on notes of fresh fruits with aromas of white flowers (hawthorn and acacia). The palate is fleshy, smooth, enveloped by the freshness of citrus notes, lemon, grape- fruit zest. A remarkable sweetness and a lingering mineral finish invite to prolong the pleasure.  Extremely fresh and subtle, Brimoncourt’s Blanc de Blancs is ideal for a distinctive aperitif; it also agrees with smoked salmon, sashimi, sushi, shellfish and grilled fish.

  5. Boll & Cie Extra Brut Blanc De Blancs Nv

This non-vintage cuvee from Champagne Boll and Cie (pronounced Boll et Chi) spends more tha 4 years on lees so it picks up a bit of toastiness on the nose and the palate. Made from 100% chardonnay too so it hits with a nice nose of exotic fruit characters, not quite creme brulee, more honied-almonds, light brioche, sweet cedar. But the palate is reasonably crunchy and dry with good length and freshness to make it well worth its price.  Winery Notes: Extra Brut, Multi-parceled wine from 3 different vineyards, Montgeux, Vindey and Mesnil sur Oger100% Chardonnay, Low dosage and low amount of sulphites. A bright Champagne with exceptional freshness, clean on the palate. Mineral, light fruit with notes of fresh tobacco, straw and citrus flavors. Easy to drink and ideal as aperitif or with sea food.

  7. Boll & Cie Grand Cru 2010

This is lovely, a touch of development now with honey, wild flowers and a lick of yeasty, toasty aromas and flavours due to the extended time on lees. Excellent Champagne. We think it drinks well above its price point and one customer commented that it is better than Dom Perignon but we'll let you be the judge of that.

  8. Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill Cuvee 2006

2006 was a terrific vintage for Sir Winston Churchill. Decanter Magazine 98/100 Sir Winston is looking particularly dignified and refined in 2004, with a surprisingly primary, youthful air, yet all the understated poise that one can expect of this classic cuvée. A cascade of impeccably refined acidity swirls into a river of minerality that flows deep and swift all the way to the distant horizon. Effortless grace and youthful vigour lurk under that distinguished exterior. Taster: Tyson Stelzer Dense grilled nuts nose, backward and youthful, and shows aromatic depth at the expense of immediate charm. The palate is rich, broad, and weighty, very concentrated, achieving a majestic style that’s biscuitty and powerful. Although accessible now it will certainly improve with more bottle age that will allow the flavours to unfurl. Long. Taster: Stephen Brook

  9. Pol Roger Vintage Brut Champagne 2008

Wine Spectator, 2017 notes, "The 2008 Brut Vintage is a typical Pol blend of 60 per cent Pinot Noir and 40 per cent Chardonnay drawn from 20 Grands and Premiers crus vineyards. Most of the other major Champagne Houses released their 2008s last year but Pol was content, as ever, to wait a bit longer than is usual, to add a little oomph and character to the wine. (“Actually, it was because we’re just ridiculously slow and lazy,” Pol’s MD Laurent d’Harcourt told me.)" “Vintage years of true greatness and exceptional class are rare,” he says. “2008 in Champagne is one such year and boy, has Pol Roger conjured up something special!”
