  2. Mader Pinot Blanc 2017

Mader (Bio-Dynamic): Alsace (Hunawihr): The Mader domaine is a very small quantity, high quality wine producer based in the picture postcard village of Hunawihr in the middle of vineyards on the Route des Vins. The family own 9 hectares of vineyards, including  prized holdings of vines in the famous ‘Rosacker’ Grand Cru vineyard and also now in the Grand cru Schlossberg. All vineyard work is carried out by hand and since 2005 their son Jerome is now running the estate having studied and gained a Diploma in Oenology. Since returning to the family estate Jerome has also converted all their vineyards to bio-dynamic viticulture. Rieslings here are some of the few in Alsace produced in a classic fine dry style built to age. In exceptional years a tiny volume of late harvest ‘Vendanges Tardive’ Riesling is made in a similar fine, elegant style that ages superbly. Jerome is fanatical about quality so yields are kept very low and selections for all wines are very strict ensuring the highest quality. The entire range of wines from the Mader family taste true to their grape varieties and vineyard origins and all represent fantatsic value. 3. Coates Wines

Light straw in colour, the nose shows restrained tropical fruits accompanied by lemongrass and a hint of brioche. A lithe palate with plenty of citrus zing with guava and delicious toast notes leading into a long, crisp finish.Winemakers notes.

  4. Elios Modus Bibendi Grillo 2017

Fantastic wine, built for summery days but has enough texture and interest to be genial as it warms up a little and settles into a meal. It’s strong in brined green olive characters, flavour and scents, with crisp cucumber, tonic water and celery in the mix. Texture is brilliant, lightly powdery, electric with acidity, almost into the sour-lolly zone but not sweet, nor too overt with tang. Just right. Hard to put down. One for buying in lots of six and drinking right now.. 93 Points Mike Bennie.

  5. Lightfoot & Sons Myrtle Point Chardonnay 2017

"$30 is rarely ‘value’ territory but this is excellent buying, even at that price. It just gets the pitch right. Lemon curd, marzipan, white peach and smoky oak characters sit hand-in-glove in the best of ways. The finish is slightly chalky; entirely positive. Lovely chardonnay."93 Points, Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.

  7. Topper's Mountain Barrel Ferment Sauvignon Blanc 2013 750ml

Delicious! Looks like an aged Hunter Semillon w/ a little whole bunch. Toasty, autolytic nose that hints at SB varietal character + a round, creamy palate which retains lively lime acidity.

  9. Meadowbank Chardonnay 2017

This is just Pete Dredge's second Meadowbank Chardonnay. From 20-year-old estate vines rooted in Derwent Valley's loose sand and sandstone overlying dark brown, coffee rock, rich in iron oxides and organic matter. It's what our gumbooted wine grower friends might call "quality dirt". The 2017 was handpicked and whole cluster pressed directly to eight French barriques (one new). The wine underwent partial malo and spent the following nine months in barrel, on lees. Bottled without fining or filtration, the new vintage is focused and chiselled, tangy and pithy with layers of citrus and crunchy stone fruits. The personality is driven by mouth-watering, punchy, cold climate acidity, while the superb winemaking brings out a layered seduction.

  10. De Iullis Semillon 2018

The Hunter Valley is renowned for producing some of the best Semillon in the world. This wine displays fresh, lifted citrus characters, a light palate, and crisp, zesty acids. It's the perfect match for seafood or any delicately flavoured dishes.
