  1. Orange Mountain Chardonnay 2015

Winery Notes: "The 2015 Orange Mountain Chardonnay was fermented in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures and then matured in French Oak Barrels for 12 months. This wine exhibits aromas of white peach, butterscotch and spice. Delicate flavours of pear, stone fruit and cashew dominate the palate. A complex style that will reward careful cellaring."

  3. Rouleur Chardonnay 2016

Winery Notes: Fruit is 100% sourced from the Willow Lake vineyard which sits at roughly 300m above sea level in the Upper Yarra Valley. The climate here provides cool nights and warm sunny days, perfect for fruit ripening in free draining volcanic soil. The wine we make from Willow Lake is a true reflection of site and style. A distinctly cool climate and modern Chardonnay that shows fine integration between 'just ripe' fruit, small batch handling, quality sulphide complexity and subtle oak integration. In keeping with style, we picked our Willow Lake Chardonnay quite early. The resultant wine has wonderful vibrancy and freshness, something we strive for across the Rouleur range. The 2016 Rouleur Chardonnay displays complex aromas of white-fleshed nectarine, lemon curd and gun flint. Some regional white flowers and squeezed citrus compliment the aromatics which sit harmoniously above fine new oak. The palate is a balance of mineral acid, stone fruit overlaying lovely barrel ferment character.  There’s a distinct ‘creaminess and flesh’ on the palate which works in-sync with pithy grapefruit tang.

  4. Corofin Carter Ashmore Vineyard Chardonnay 2015

"The Carter Ashmore Vineyard in Marlborough's Fairhall sub-region is situated on an ancient riverbed and the soils are a mixture of layered silt and alluvial gravels deposited over the eons. This site is farmed organically and is planted to the Mendoza clone of Chardonnay. This is a cracking following up to last year's inaugural release. It's layered and complex with generous white fleshed stone fruits and citrus freshness as well as nutty, leesy complexity and good length. Effortless generosity." - importer's notes.

  5. Silent Way Chardonnay 2014

93 Points - Campbell Mattinson, Wine Front, "It only sees a smidgen of new oak (10%), is wild fermented, and is left on lees for 10 months. A simple enough process for an openly delicious wine. Length of flavour – and not just acid – through the finish is a highlight. It tastes of pears and apples, red and green, with ample spice and oatmeal-like notes threaded throughout. It feels good, tastes good, and lingers appreciably."

  7. Briar Ridge Stockhausen Chardonnay 2015

Winery Notes: This Stockhausen Chardonnay was created in a style paying homage to the pioneers of the Hunter Valley around 40 years ago. It is rich and creamy with ripe peach and tropical notes. The refreshing citrus characters are supported by a subtle use of oak to produce a wine that is soft and creamy with a lingering finish. 2015 proved to be a very challenging season in the Hunter Valley. Characterized by very dry conditions at the start of the growing season, the berry sizes were smaller than normal. Into ripening, the Hunter Valley experienced higher than average rainfall, recording over 100mm at the start of the white harvest. This rain continued making harvest decisions very tricky. However with judicious selective picking, the resulting wines are fruit driven, precise and complex.

  8. Indigo Chardonnay 2015

This is terrific. Peaches, apples, pears, leesy and fine-boned but holding genuine depth of character. There is oak but it is integrated so well with just a lick of buttery charm. Winery Notes: The Indigo Wine Company was established in 1997, after a year long, Australia wide search for The Great Vineyard Site led us to a sheep station called The Big Valley. In 1999 plantings commenced. We aim to have a light touch on the earth. We have a focused effort on vine health through biodynamic methods, 100 tonne compost application, undervine slashing to promote microbial activity and nutrient monitoring. Our flock of Dorper sheep keep our midrows down reducing our tractor work and thus both diesel use and soil compaction while adding nutrients from their dung. All of this assists with fertiliser management and biodiversity.

  10. Domenica Chardonnay 2015

Grown on a south facing slope, the fruit is hand picked lightly crushed, and basket pressed. The heaviest solids are briefly settled out by gravity, then the juice transferred to barriques awaiting the start of fermentation. This occurs naturally, when it is ready, and takes as long as it takes. Well balanced fruit will contain everything required to ferment to dryness. Naturally formed sulphides occur in some barrels – usually to a point which produces the beautiful nutty, matchstick characters so symbiotic with chardonnay. New oak is used judiciously. The wine is matured in its original barrel, on yeast lees for around 18 months before blending to tank, where it is naturally fined, then bottled unfiltered under screwcap closure.
