Chardonnay at Wine Culture

Chardonnay originally from Burgundy in France, is one of the most planted wine grape varieties in the world and as such, it is a varietal which produces a broad range of styles: From minerally and tight through to rich and creamy. However, no matter what your preference, we are confident, that at Wine Culture we stock a wine which will suit you.

Whether you are after Chablis, Montrachet or White Burgundy - key wine styles made with this extremely popular variety - or prefer to stay closer to home and buy some of the finest Chardonnay's from Australia (the Margaret River and Hunter Valley produce some of Australia's best examples of this variety) we have something for everyone. Browse through or stock, or feel free to contact us for about a wine you are looking for.

  1. Luke Lambert Chardonnay 2018

"Subdued fruit, into lemon rind, citrus, green apple, aniseed, with nutty saline character. It’s savoury, a little kombucha or yoghourt sourness, intense acidity, fine chalk dust texture, and a long perfumed/sour-edged finish. It’s engaging and very good, though likely to polarise.94 PointsTasted : Feb19"Gary Walsh - The Wine Front

  2. Pierro Chardonnay 2017

95+ Points, Gary Walsh, Wine Front, "It’s pretty young. It’s best days are before it. In-between days, we do our best to call it. Pie apple and pear, cinnamon oatmeal, lime, white flowers and vanilla. Medium bodied, silky delivery of Chardonnay flavour, so fine yet rich, gentle dusting of peppery tannin, discreet but firm acidity, that vanilla oatmeal creaminess, and then a finish that tightens up with a mix of apple and mixed citrus. The length is outstanding. Wonderful wine."

92/100 Mike Bennie – Wine Front. Vinden Estate’s 2017 Chardonnay is sourced from the Summerville Vineyard in Broke and underwent 100% barrel fermentation in French oak. During the 10 month elevate, bâtonnage was conducted monthly to build complexity, weight and texture. A deliciouswine with white peach and vanillin overtones, complemented with a beautiful creamy finish. Great drinking any time over the next 5 years.

  5. Vinden Estate Chardonnay 2017

"This is 100% barrel fermented chardonnay, a pretty old school-good school take on the variety. Vinden Estate stands alongside the edgier ‘The Vinden Headcase’ range. Sees about 50% malolactic ferment too. Big, bold chardonnay with everything in neat balance. Shows chewy oak notes, lemon curd on ripe stone fruit with buttery toast in the mix. Generous perfume, mellow-soft texture, ample and lush to taste but with freshness to lift and a mouthwatering finish. Generous white here with an 1980s-meets-2010s vibe. Really well done. Give it some time and it will be ‘the butter chardy’ you love." 92 Points, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front.

  6. Shaw & Smith Wines M3 Chardonnay 2016

"Light to mid-yellow colour with savoury nutty, straw and toast aromas. A trace of malt. The wine is delicate, light to medium-bodied and not especially concentrated, but has attractive flavour and style, finishing clean and dry with a pleasingly savoury aftertaste. Cleansing acidity keeps the finish fresh."4/5 StarsHuon Hook - The Real ReviewTasted May 2018

  7. Mike Press Chardonnay 2017

Very light straw yellow. It's mostly about grapefruit, melons, apples and nectarines and it's strongly regional. It's refreshing and crisp but retains enough interest, minerality and complexity. There are some grassy notes on the nose and back palate.

  8. By Farr Chardonnay 2017

The trademark characteristics of the wine produced on this site are understated power and length with a mineral finish. The wine has a great fruit expression that is well integrated with French oak. The soil characteristics come through in the style of wine we have today. The palate is fine but firm, with great acidity, texture and length. This wine is rich in flavour, yet very refined. Nick Farr

  10. Woodlands Wilyabrup Chardonnay 2017

Winery Notes: "This wine delivers the essence of new season tree fruits.  The expansive nose reveals ripe white peach and nectarine, some creamy wine lees complexity, Provençal herbs, and a subtle note of tropical passionfruit. The palate is full flavoured on entry; with white peaches, grapefruit, and hints of pine needle and citrus rind. The palate is long and fine – lingering with bright fruit flavours and a hint of caramel and barrel toast."
