  1. Sailor Seeks Horse Chardonnay 2015

A tragic tale of vinous desire combined with a fairytail journey into growing and making wines in Tasmania's Huon Valley not too far from Home Hill.It hits with fragrantly floral tones and leesy, mealy, nuttiness along with apples, guava, and other exotics but the palate shows powerfully elegant drive and lip-smacking acidity on the finish. I'd suggest it will reward time in the cellar before cracking it open.

  4. Soumah Hexham Single Vineyard Chardonnay 2016

2017 International Cool Climate Show -  TOP GOLD - 97 POINTS TROPHY FOR BEST 2016 CHARDONNAY TROPHY FOR BEST WHITE IN SHOW TROPHY FOR BEST WINE IN SHOW Its about flavour and balance and its about structure and finesse. The delicate yet complex bouquet displays a struck match character with a fresh and vibrant grapefruit and citrus palate melded with cashew and minerality. There is a clean finish of great length. The wine will mature well for at least 10 years.  The Yarra Valley is one of the best regions in Australia for Chardonnay. Our goal is simple; add to that reputation with our definitive vineyard site coupled with the finest clones to create a modern age, premium Chardonnay. The fruit was gently pressed and the juice fermented in barriques and puncheons with 100% wild yeast. Some early battonage is used to create structure and finesse. The wine was then matured on lees for eight months with 20% of the barrels being new and allowed a secondary, (malolactic), fermentation.

  5. Savaterre Chardonnay 2015

93 Points, Mike Bennie, Wine Front, "Beechworth and chardonnay is a conversation we often have, but perhaps it’s at a little quieter volume than other regions over the past little while. Savaterre makes a good case to turn up the hearing aids. Honey and toast scents, flinty sulphur, complex fruit profile with lots of citrus, then stone fruit, exotic tropicals, with a mesh of savoury, nutty aromas in the mix. I think I like the cut of the jib here. Firm edge to the palate, puff of sulphur, chunks of limestone and chalk, zesty acidity underlying, really tightly wound fruit flavour but rewarding in its firm, bitey feel. Like alternating between chewing on a lemon wedge and licking limey pumice. Wow, good to be alive. This has some personality. Distinct too, if not a little out of the box for Savaterre."

  6. Mewstone Chardonnay 2016

94 Points, Campbell Mattinson, Wine Front, "I have a bee in my bonnet about the oft-used term “Tasmanian acidity”. It’s not a phrase I like to see; it looks lazy to me. And so I’m a little red-faced to admit that when I first tasted this Chardonnay from Mewstone, the first thing to pop to mind was indeed that phrase. It’s a wine with flavour, texture and length but yes, it’s slipped with cool-light acidity. It gives the wine a certain ring of confidence. There are notes of ginger, preserved lemon, pink grapefruit and oyster shells here, and while I’m sure there was oak involved there’s very little sign of it in the wine. A kiss of toasted cedar wood, is all. More than anything it’s about pure fruit, illuminated by a cool low light. Thankfully it went through malo; it needed to. Pick this up in three years (+) time and it will be just starting to hit its straps. Tasmania certainly knows how to produce modern wine stars."

  7. Virgile Lignier Michelot Axelle Bourgogne Blanc Chardonnay 2015

Not sure why Virgile Lignier has decided to put his Chardonnay into a frosted bottle but it's what's inside that counts. Crisp, full-bodied though with citrus, powerful racy palate smash. The Lignier family have deep roots in the village of Morey Saint Denis and own some of the very best vineyard sites in this village, and also in the 2 neighbouring villages Chambolle Musigny and Gevrey Chambertin. Virgile’s father and grand-father had always produced wine and sold it to negotiants until Virgile started working with his father in the early 1990’s and he decided to sell the wines himself. Now with almost 20 vintages of experience Virgile has moved the domaine to fully organic viticulture and is producing what many believe to be the best wines of this prestigious village.

  8. Curly Flat Chardonnay 2015

95 Points - James Halliday 2017 Companion, Ned Goodwin - Published on 01 Apr 2017 This is a strapping Curly Flat. The wine has undergone 50% mlf to confer complexity, stability and poise on one hand; to retain natural acidity on the other. This strikes a creamy cord that parlays well with the wine's sheer extract, stone fruit and vanilla pod notes. The finish is long and emphatic, careening across a high pitched scale of mineral crunch and layered complexity, auguring well for a long future.

  10. Singlefile Great Southern Chardonnay 2016

Winery Notes: This wine has bright aromas of citrus and white peach with a subtle flint character. The palate displays a modern styled chardonnay of citrus and stone fruit with judicious use of oak playing a subtle role in the background. The wine is bright and mouth filling with an acidic backbone and a long lingering finish. "Aromatics of roasted nuts; cashew, chestnut, plus butter and toasty butter notes. The palate shows a touch of fruit sweetness but perfectly balances the utra-long, soft, rich and savoury style. Finish shows a touch of chalky crunch to keep it fresh and moreish." 18/20 Justyn.
