  1. Dowie Doole Chenin Blanc 2016

Nose: Fresh, lively aromas of passion fruit and Kaffir Lime leaf. Palate: The aromas follow through onto the palate with a burst of delicate white stone fruit and citrus flavours. A lovely, long palate and a crisp, clean and zesty finish. 94 points – Halliday Wine Companion - Highly Recommended & Awarded "Special Value for Money" rating “Start with 83yo vines from Blewitt Springs, hand pick at low baume and high natural acidity, cool ferment in stainless steel for 2 - 3 weeks and you end up with a wine of startling freshness, acidity and vibrant citrus and apple flavours. DOWIE DOOLE gives the wine a 20-plus-year cellaring future, and I'll run with that. This is a terrific wine at a bargain basement price.” James Halliday

  5. Ls Merchants Chenin Blanc 2018

"Made with Vouvray in mind, on the nose it presents lemon wood, brioche and a hint of brine, the palate is lush and rich from 6 months of battonage before being pulled into line by a lime rind acidity and the saline nature of the varietal. Fantastic match with chicken or white meats also richer seafoods." Winemaker notes.

  7. Dowie Doole Tintookie Chenin Blanc 2012

A single vineyard wine sourced from the Tintookie vineyard at Blewitt Springs; cooler sub-region of McLaren Vale. The DOWIE DOOLE Tintookie Chenin Blanc is truly unique to Australia and the world. The grapes are sourced from one of Australia’s oldest Chenin Blanc vineyards; Tintookie, owned by Drew Dowie and Lulu Lunn. The Tintookie Vineyard was planted in 1933 on the cool sandy slopes of Blewitt Springs. The Tintookie Vineyard’s terrior suits the variety perfectly, emphasising Chenin Blanc’s vibrant fruit lift and natural acidity. Producing a wine of unique vibrancy, length and if you are patient, incredible aging potential. A small parcel of fruit was hand-picked, barrel fermented in older French oak and left on yeast lees for six months prior to bottling.  This process added savoury complexity to the natural, vibrant fruit flavours, which, coupled with the variety's natural acidity, will ensure longevity.92 points - Halliday Wine Companion – Highly Recommended “Mid-straw; a single vineyard chenin blanc from the cooler Blewitt Springs district; it has received additional bottle age prior to release, and was given the full treatment in the cellar, barrel fermentation and partial mlf. Complex and spiced lemon curd lead to a textural palate that retains a mineral drive.” James Halliday

  8. Thierry Germain Domaine Des Roches Neuves Clos Romans Saumur Blanc 2015

Importer's Notes: Biodynamic. 100% Chenin Blanc rooted in the walled clos of a priory that dates back to the 11th century. The soil consists of a 30cm layer of sandy clay over Senonian-era limestone bedrock called Pierres de Champigny. It's the same rock that was used to build the Château Champigny. Germain acquired this historic site in 2007 and has been steadily replanting at a density of 10,000 vines/hectare. He practices selection massale, mixing plants to ensure he does not get a monodimensional profile of this terroir. Volumes are tiny with handpicked grapes whole bunch pressed and then fermented for two months in a single 400-litre oval cask for nine months on lees. Lying in Parnay, just outside Saumur (heading towards Chinon), the Clos Romans is a site Germain describes with boyish enthusiasm, as 'magic'. Having made the pilgrimage to this Clos again earlier this year, he'll get no argument from us. Sitting high above the river, the vine's roots burrow down through the limestone, towards Parnay's famous troglodyte dwellings below. The wine it creates certainly has an enchanted feel that is hard to pin down. This is dramatically tense, crystalline, mineral-bound and soaringly pure Chenin, with dazzling, earthy and stone fruit notes, fine, old vine structure and a lifted, saline finish. Hard to pin down. To give you an idea just how good... Germain does a contra with this wine with a revered Côte de Beaune Domaine that we won't mention here to be a little discrete. The wines are swapped, bottle for bottle, with a Puligny Grand Cru, even though this Burgundian produces some much sought after premier cru wines. Enough said.

  9. Damien Laureau Les Genets Savennieres 2013

Importer's Notes: 2013 Savennieres “Les Genets” - Damien describes this wine as his favourite and also his best wine for drinking young. In 2013 this wine is made from tiny yields of 17 hl/ha from vines planted on sand in some of the highest parts of the appellation located up behind Roches aux Moines in the lieu-dit of Moulin de Beaupres. The sandy silty topsoil gives wines that are more approachable young and this cuvee is mostly aged in tank with just 10% aged in barrel.
