  2. Moorooduc Estate Pinot Gris On Skins 2016

It really is rose in colour. This is what Pinot Gris looks like when you make it in the same way as you make Pinot Noir. It's all natural fermenty, texturally interesting but frangrance filled stuff so drink it lightly chilled to allow all the flavours to come through. Brilliant!

  6. Prophets Rock Pinot Gris 2015

TASTING NOTE: A wide spectrum of aromatics from pear and white peach, citrus, quince and spice notes with an underlying minerality. These aromas are echoed on the palate, highlighted by crisp acidity and a long finish. The texture, freshness and concentrated aromatics mean that this wine will harmonise will with a wide range of dishes. Consider white meats, seafood and fish, the wine will also work well with mildly spiced dishes. This wine will reward careful cellaring over the next 5 – 8+ years from vintage VINTAGE: The grapes for this wine were hand-picked from our two vineyards between the 26th of March and the 12th of April. After a cool and mixed spring, the 2015 growing season was very stable and warm through until the end of our harvest, providing great ripening conditions. Interestingly, it snowed at our vineyards on the 13th of April, the day after we finished all picking. WINE-MAKING: The grapes for this wine were handpicked and field sorted, once at the winery the fruit was whole-bunch pressed to retain maximum aromatics and freshness. The wine was fermented using only indigenous ‘wild’ yeast in multiple small lots. Once fermentation was completed the wine was matured on its yeast lees prior to bottling on the 10th of December 2015. Out of respect for our vineyards, this wine has not been subjected to cold stabilisation, so harmless crystals or ‘wine diamonds’ may form during extended ageing. Bottled under Diam cork which are certified taint-free.

  7. Nevis Bluff Pinot Gris 2013

4 Stars, 17.5/20, Raymond Chan - "Bright straw-yellow colour with some depth and pale golden hues, lighter on the rim. This has an elegant nose with clear and clean aromas of white and yellow stonefruits, along with suggestions of nutty notes, some honeysuckle, infused with mineral detail. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the flavours of white and yellow stonefruits are fresh and lively, lifted by white florals and enriched by honeysuckle nuances. Some nutty and mineral elements add to the interest. The fruit is moderately sweet and rich, and is balanced by enlivening acidity. The wine flows along a soft, fine-textured line with some phenolic grip which carries to a dry finish with florals and honeysuckle. This is a fresh, crisp, dry Pinot Gris with moderately rich stonefruit flavours and some floral and honeysuckle detail."

  8. Bk Wines Ovum Pinot Gris 2016

Custard cream with a green-apple bite. The last of the fruit to come off the vine followed by a luxuriously gentle fermentation has resulted in confectionary flavours atop a firm acidic plinth – pure pear drops.  This is a wine that will lend itself exceedingly well to sumptuous, exotic dishes – Chinese sausage or fragrant Thai chicken rice would fit the bill.100% Lenswood Pinot Gris, 100% concrete ‘egg’ fermenter, wild yeasts, unfined.
