  2. Chateau Flamand Bellevue 2016

Chateau tasting: Facing south, the vineyard is, as tradition dictates, planted with the following grape varieties: mostly Merlot 70%, which brings the softness, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon for the strong side, and 8% Cabernet Franc for finesse, supplemented with 1% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot. Garnet red to purplish disc, good depth and clear. Expressive nose of ripe fruit, dominated by blackcurrant and strawberry purée with cedar notes. The attack is fresh and lively, the palate is round, fleshy with sap and tension. Nice length with ripe tannins and fine allies at a gourmet fruit.

  3. Chateau Beynat Castillon Cotes De Bordeaux Rouge 2015

"Simply said - wow! Outstanding! From the initial bouquet, to the front palate and the long, structured finish, this certified organic wine from the Cotes de Castillon district of Bordeaux is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc which has plenty of black fruit spectrum but restrained by the glove of savoury power that envelopes the fruit. Fragrant black earth, edges of licorice and solid  mouthful of tannins without the astringency. This wine cries out for a char-grilled beef steak with pommes frites and a green salad. Drink now or cellar for 5+ years. 17.5/20" 15/09/17 Wine Culture.

  6. Chateau Canon La Gaffeliere Saint Emilion 2009

95 Points - Robert Parker - An intriguing blend of nearly 50% Merlot, a whopping 35% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon (a somewhat unusual combination for this region), the 2009 reminds me of the 1990. A big, inky/purple-tinged wine with just over 14% natural alcohol, it exhibits exotic, flamboyant aromas of espresso roast, incense, sweet black cherries, black currants, licorice, asphalt, barbecue smoke, Christmas fruitcake and herbs. Full-bodied with silky tannins, luscious fruit, a hedonistic yet complex personality, low acidity, noticeable tannin and enviable purity, this head-turning beauty can be enjoyed over the next 15-20 years. This has been one of my favorite St.-Emilions since the late 1980s, when proprietor Stefan Neipperg began to resurrect this once moribund estate that made so many mediocre wines in the 1960s, 1970s and early 1980s (the 1982 was shameful). It is one of hundreds of examples of properties that have been returned to life, providing Bordeaux with greater quality, diversity and recognition than it has ever had in its long history.

  7. Chateau Larrivet Haut Brion Pessac Leognan 2000

90 Points - Robert Parker - The deep ruby/purple-colored 2000's rich, complex perfume displays aromas of cedar, black cherry liqueur, melted licorice, scorched earth, tobacco, and new oak. The wine is rich, firm, tannic, concentrated, and medium to full-bodied with admirable sweetness of fruit. It is a beautiful effort that should be drinkable between 2007-2020.

  8. Chateau Pape Clement Pessac-leognan Bordeaux 2011

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "The 2011 Pape Clement, a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, was aged 18 months in new French oak before being bottled unfiltered. Absolutely profound, with a complex bouquet of mulberries, black cherries, black currants, graphite and subtle smoke and burning ember-like aromas, this is a true super-star of the vintage. It represents a remarkable achievement by the winemaking team of Bernard Magrez. Full-bodied, rich and multidimensional, this wine clearly transcends the entire vintage. It should age effortlessly for 25 years. (RP)    (4/2014)"

  9. Chateau Pontet Canet Pauillac Bordeaux 2008

This 5th Growth Grand Cru Classe from Pauillac is a 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot blend with a splash of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot..Jancis Robinson - "Very lightly oxidised on the nose but both fun and serious on the palate - Cullen or Ridge? Solid, very Latour-like in its dryness (bone dry, very unlike Se?a which has nearly 3 g/l residual sugar) - but over time this became rather a trial. At first I gave it 17." Tasted: 14-Jan-2013

  10. Chateau Pavillon Rouge Du Margaux 2000

94 Points - Wine Spectator17/20 - Jancis Robinson, "Classical vintage with a so-so summer but beautiful September. Very dark crimson – looks much bluer than the 1996. Still bluer than the 2004. Savoury, complex, really rather gorgeous nose even if far from the first flush of youth. Sumptuous nose even if on the palate it’s more austere than the nose suggests. Quite grainy tannins on the finish but lovely balance. Very fresh."  Tasted: 20-Oct-2015
