MAUDE PINOT NOIR 2008:
Winery notes: The 2008 Maude is sourced from 5 premium sub-regions of Central Otago, each contributing uniquely to the wine. A brooding beast with aromas of violets and wild thyme. A succulent palate that has layers of flavour with velvety but structural tannins.

Colour: Vibrant ruby red
Nose: A complex dark and brooding nose of mulberry, plum pie and ripe blackberries. Wild thyme and violet aromas are infused with the chocolate and char from oak maturation.
Palate: A full rich Pinot Noir. Typical of Central Otago Pinot Noir, from a warm season this wine has wonderful concentration of fruit flavours coupled with strong yet supple tannins.

General: From the wonderfully ripe and bountiful 2008 vintage, with its endless Summer. Hand harvested from six premium vineyard sites in Central Otago, split between 5 different sub‐regions. Each region contributed uniquely to this blend.
Fermented very traditionally in open topped tanks, hand plunged, indigenous yeasts with a portion of whole bunch included in each fermenter. A month on skins for tannin development prior to gentle pressing through our basket press. Maturation in French barriques for 10 months before minimal filtration, no fining and bottling in March, 2009.
