“Selected from 6 distinctive parcels from the east facing slope of Roennfeldt Road in Marananga.” Interesting to taste these wines. They have plenty of tannin, well-settled acidity, not a great deal of oak, and a ‘natural’ kind of feel. That is, they’re about fruit (and therefore vineyard) expression, yet also come across with a deluxe/prestige feel. They could even relight the fire of many a lapsed Barossa drinker?
Perfumed and floral, blueberry pie, raspberry, spice, grilled meat, subtle wild herb and liquorice. Full bodied, but not heavy, loaded with succulent red and black berries, distinct ‘mineral’ feel and flavour – pencilly even – fresh but unobtrusive acidity, and layers of thick graphite tannin to temper the bold fruit, closing with lush fruit, a slick of tannin, and alarming length. Strewth!

Scientists recreate 220-year-old Australian shipwreck beer

An international team of scientists have brewed a beer using live yeast collected from a sunken vessel off the coast of Tasmania.

A 220-year-old beer bottle was salvaged from merchant vessel, Sydney Cove, which was travelling from Calcutta to Port Jackson when it sank in 1797 near Preservation Island, Tasmania.
