It explodes on the palate with a rush of fruit then there's an exciting interplay of dired herbs, fresh fermenty savoury backbone and great length.Named for the moon on the day of harvest from a highly-prized biodynamic vineyard, the fruit was in peak condition, full of ripe flavours and enjoyed a languorous fermentation. Blood red in the glass. Traditional Rhône characteristics of mulberry and oyster shell with a white-pepper tang. Toothy tannins round out this classic, Old World Syrah. It wants very much to find itself next to roast duck.

  7. Garagiste Balnarring Pinot Noir 2016

    On 2015 Vintage - 94 Points, Campbell Mattinson, Wine Front, "From the Balnarring sub-region of the Mornington Peninsula. Wild yeast, 25% whole bunches, 25% new French oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered. There’s a heartiness to this, a depth, but it’s not at the expense of attitude. This stands up for itself. It glistens with boysenberry, plum and stewed strawberry fruit flavours but nutty/smoky oak plays a key role and more so, reams of twiggy spice and herb. Both crackle and pop. There’s an urgency to the tannin, almost a edginess, though it yet feels tense and controlled. It’s a bit young but it’s more than a bit good."
