  7. Monte Dall Ora Valpolicella Classico Saseti 2015 (organic)

    This is a Valpolicella Classico from the original zone of Valpolicella planted prior to 1968. It is light-to-medium-weighted with lively red fruits and savory spicy elements. Underneath you'll see some dried herbs and roses on the nose while the palate sits beautifully between fresh red berries and leatherwood spices. There's fresh acidity as well and soft, talc-like tannins that carry the structure so very well. Excellent wine.

  8. Bertani Valpolicella Ripasso 2013

    Grape varieties and vineyards - 85% Corvina Veronese, 10% Merlot and 5% Rondinella. The vines are vertical-trellised, with Guyot pruning and a planting density of 5000 plants/ha. Production area - The hills of the Valpantena and Valpolicella Classica area. The soil is mainly calcareous-marl with a part that is volcanic, rich in iron. Vinification - First fermentation: the harvest is done by hand at the end of September. Fermentation in special wide and shallow steel tanks, which are ideal for increasing contact between must and skins, at a temperature of 20 to 22°C and lasting for about two weeks. Second fermentation «RIPASSO»: takes place in March on the Amarone skins that still have a good content of active yeasts, which allow the wine to ferment a second time. Ageing - It ages in 750-litre Veronese-Bertani French oak barrels for 9 months. Tasting notes - It has an intense purple-red colour with purplish highlights. On the nose it has a very clean and intense aroma of ripe red fruit with hints of dark fruit, such as bramble, blackcurrant and ripe cherry. It is velvety and well-balanced, full and round while maintaining a lively and intense grip, with a sapid aftertaste.

  10. Fedrigo Luca L'arco Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore 2012

    Luca Fedrigo crafts these wines in Veneto in similar fashion to Quinterelli. Luca worked at Quinterelli under the close supervision of Giuseppe for 11 years before venturing off to make hi own wines. This is bright fruited but deeply earthy and complex. Fermented entirely in stainless steel before being transferred for 2 years into 2000 litre Slovenian oak barrels where it ages gracefully developing the complex aromas and flavours that make for excellent Valpolicella. It shows, spices, dark fruits and leathery palate tannins with length and life and lovely acid balance.
