  3. Pol Roger Vintage Brut Champagne 2009

"The 2009 Brut Vintage blends 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay from 20 grand and premier cru villages in the Montagne de Reims and the Cte des Blancs. Fermented in stainless steel with each variety and each village kept separate and malolactic completed, the 2009 aged eight years in the cellars before being hand-riddled and disgorged. Disgorged in October 2017 and tasted in June 2018, the 2009 shows an intense, concentrated, pretty vinous and profound bouquet of ripe fruit, chalk, brioche and nutty/almond notes. Full-bodied and rich but fresh and even refined on the palate, this is a very elegant, round, charming yet well-structured and vinous Vintage Brut with a clear, fresh, structured and remarkably persistent finish. It drinks already very well today, but its aging potential is most probably stunning."Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate -- 29/06/2018

  6. Charles Heidsieck Brut Vintage 2005

The 2005 Brut Vintage is an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years. Brioche, pastry, baked apple and apricot are some of the notes that flesh out in the glass. Supple, expressive and inviting, the 2005 offers lovely balance, especially for the year. Warm, toasty notes meld into the resonant, enveloping finish. This is quite lovely. Disgorged: May 6, 2014. 10. Apogee Deluxe Vintage Rose 2016

"From Dr Andrew Pirie and his single site in Lebrina, in the (east) Tamar Valley. Geez, the font is hard to read on the labels and I have 20/20 vision, or whatever the scale is. Micro font aside, this is a blend of pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot meunier, though mostly noir. And, indeed, it is pink. It sees some time in oak, or a portion does, and some aged material blended in for added bonus. Once you rip the foil off the cap you lose the detail of the wine, with no other vintage mark or cuvee name left behind. You do get the intel that this bottle was disgorged 30JAN19, however. Lithe and pretty sparkling wine of purity of fruit, good drive, tight bead and general freshness. There’s little in the way of yeastiness or savoury funk, cruising down the pure fruit, inward concentration and fruit-derived complexity line. And, complexity is a good word here, without knowing, because it is very easy to drink, there’s a lot more going on in layers of berry flavours, citrus, faint mineral things, saline character and apple-spectrum notes. It glides on silky texture but captures you with hidden chicanery of interest. I really liked this."93 Points, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front.
