Notes
GW: Deep, dark fruit, earthy and spicy, iron filings, boysenberry, slight green stalk and peppermint. Juicy red and black fruit, a bit of chew and slightly rugged tannin, hazelnuts, a somewhat chalky and nutty finish. It’s not quite together as yet, but interesting and full of character. 91+ points. KS: Smells dark, black-fruited at first, toasty and nutty, oak sits atop with coffee aromas, and it just feels a bit angular. This release seems more Shiraz-y to me than the last year’s one that, even though had a similar blend proportion, looked more Pinot-esque. There are black olive tones with oily herb rub, dark chocolate tannin. Good weight, intensity, length. It seems, it doesn’t feel comfortable in its skin yet. Loving the fleshy, chewy black olive, however. 93+ points Notes taken from The Wine Front "Magnificent fruit is central to this historic blend, where shiraz provides the base and pinot the tannin, energy and detail. The fragrant, nutty oak is prominent right now, though with time, this will melt into the wine to form a treasured savoury accent. And honestly, once one pairs the wine with something savoury, the dynamics change and the oak slips into the background while the fragrant dark fruit prevails. The peacock's tail on the finish is utterly compelling and coaxes one into having another sip. Mighty fine fruit for a wine of this price. One for now and beyond." 95 Points Toni Paterson - The Wine Companion
