Notes
“The 2021 vintage here feels a lot like 2018”, explains Fraser McKinley, “this was more about easier growing seasons than anything. The whole process felt pretty delightful, dreamy, you could pick early, lots of interesting flavour early, you could hold out and pick later with ease too. You get these opportunities to pick when you want, but it also loads pressure on, you had a great growing season, a nice harvest that didn’t break you with challenges, so afterwards, you start to think if the wines are as good as you want them to be… are they that interesting?”. Righteous wine results. Depth, concentration, levity. The whole bit. It’s an impossibly smooth ride. Velvety, lush, still feels kind of medium weight though potent and rich a lift, drive, cinching of fine, powdery and mellow tannin. Dried herb leads the bouquet, some tobacco, clove too, dark cherry, ripe plum, Chinese five spice dusted the whole way over it. The flavour profile finishes strongly with that Chinese five spice right through to an almost Sichuan feel, incredibly. Power and presence. Balance too. Sublime wine, intense, fresh, vibrant, power and presence the motif and so brilliantly done. Drinkability through the roof. Top flight." 97 Points Mike Bennie - The Wine Front
